Impressions of 59th Wellbeing Tibetan Medical Camp, Nov. 8 – 10, 2017 at Centre for Social & Political Art (CSPA) at Sylviander House

Meanwhile our 3 cats are used to the rush and crowd appearing suddenly at Sylviander House with the arrival of the Tibetan team for the Wellbeing Camp.
This time the team is: Dr. Dorjee Rapten Neshar, Sonam Wangmo, Yeshi Chodon and the young Tibetan Dr Karma (Name has been changed to maintain confidentiality).
After they arrived early morning on the 1st day of the camp they have to prepare the boxes with the medicines, teas and balms, curiously observed by our cat girl Moojoo …

As usual Simba, our eldest a cat boy, seams to feel as a security guard, taking care that nobody will disturb Dr. Dorjee’s afternoon nap …

On the 1st day my dear friend Mrinalini comes with patients to consult the doctor. Great pleasure for us to have some time to talk …

The young Tibetan Dr Karma assists the consultations beside Dr. Dorjee and as well the treatments as cup therapy, which is done in our massage room.

Somewhen in the afternoon Yazin T Azad has a long interview with Dr Karma for the report of Friends of Tibet – and he is quite exited about what she has to tell …

59th Wellbeing Camp Report by Yazin T Azad | (November 9, 2017)

Since Dr Karma came from Tibet some years back for her studies and is planning probably to go back one day, she asks me not to take a picture close from her face.

As long Yazin is here for a day, mostly he will do the translation for those patients not speaking english. He himself is very interested in holistic healing methods.

Often desperate patients come for consultation with their family members seeing their last hope for cure in Tibetan medicine …

They bring a lot of documents with diagnosis from hospitals and results of their former treatments by academic doctors …

Mostly Sethu Das helps with translations, while Suresh Babu has his place in my stitching room for giving briefings to interested patients for a greater understanding about healing. The patients appreciate these talks a lot – and of course, Suresh too.
And in the breaks between whoever has some spare time enjoys the conversations with Suresh …

As always Sonam and Yeshi are busy in the entrance hall, writing the bills and distributing the medicines …

Our friend from the mountains made the long way to Sylviander House with his son, who experiences good improvements since he takes Tibetan medicine. Alexander shares the lunch with them before they’ll return home.

On the 3rd day of the Wellbeing Camp we celebrate Dr. Dorjee’s birthday as last year with a traditional German cake …

Last year I’ve baked an »Apfelstreuselkuchen«, an apple cake …

This year I made a »Versunkener Apfelkuchen«, which is an apple cake too in a different way –  once in my childhood my mother used to bake on Sundays or for birthdays …

And of course Dr. Dorjee is empowering the birthday cake with Medicine Buddha’s healing mantra. He says: Those who share even a small portion of this cake become healthy and happy.

With some discipline we managed to keep 2 pieces for the rickshaw drivers Elias and Biju, who always pick up and drop the Tibetan team at the Aleppey railway station …

Before the Tibetan team has to leave in the evening Dr. Dorjee, Sethu and Suresh discuss about the next camp in January 2018 …
As always we are looking forward, since we are very happy to have them all in our Sylviander House for this Wellbeing activity !
